Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Architects and Designers
When referring to the software and digital tools architects use on a daily basis, Photoshop usually comes in a close second to the usual choice of CAD and 3D architecture programs. In architecture, Photoshop can be used for all manner of tasks and in many architectural practices is the primary image creating and editing tool. This course will be for architects, engineers, builders, and anyone that uses photos, 2D drawings, and 3D models to communicate their design intentions. This course will consist of two parts:
- Part 1: Basic Photo Editing with Photoshop: This part will make Photoshop understandable and useable. You won't find a technical explanation of every option for every tool in every situation, but rather a concise explanation of those parts of Photoshop you're most likely to need.
- Part 2: Photoshop for Architecture: This part will focus on applying the Photoshop tools in specific Architectural tasks such as CAD Conversion, Visualization, Floor Plan, Rendering Post-Production, Presentation Boards and more.

Part 2: Photoshop for Architecture
Architectural Visualisation Photoshop can be used to create renderings and visualisations from just a SketchUp model through photo montaging or used to provide the final touches to an externally rendered image through a post-production process, very similar to an architecture photographer.

CAD to Photoshop (SketchUp, Autodesk, AutoCAD, Solidworks and more)
- Rendered image post-production
- Placement of elements and people
Photoshop floor plans, elevations and sections Adding materials and texture to create depth and interest to 2D drawings is particularly relevant to architecture students producing elevations and sections of their work.
- Create or enhance your architectural section from 2D drawings
- Illustrating an Architectural Plan in Photoshop
Architecture presentation boards Photoshop is an excellent programme for producing architectural boards that aim to communicate design concepts, thought processes and site analysis. Again its layering system provides a very flexible and simple workflow that allows for easy annotation of site maps and photographs.
